Fashionable fitness trackers to consider
We love how fitness trackers can help manage and promote everyday health, but it's great when they make a positive fashion statement. Currently, many are made of thick rubber, with varying shapes and screens that may not appeal to everyone. If you’re interested in finding a tracker that complements your wardrobe, then check out these suggestions.
Apple is known for products which are modern, clean and beautiful, and the Apple Watch is no different. And it’s a fantastic piece of technology to boot. It includes all those fantastic fitness tracking features (step counting, heart rate monitoring etc) and works in tandem with your phone giving you even more great apps and features. The Series 2 version is also waterproof which is great if you love to swim. The watch itself can be customised as you see fit. The casing comes in various colours – gold, silver, rose gold and black – and you can pick between two sizes (38mm and 42mm). As for bands, this is where you can have some real fun. From Apple to other suppliers there are dozens upon dozens of bands to personalise your Apple Watch.
Fitbit Alta HR
The Fibit Alta is a fantastically designed device with a superb array of functions. Design wise it’s a narrow band with a glass screen with sliver edging. You can also purchase special edition versions with gunmetal stainless steel or role gold sides. The Alta HR is possibly the thinnest tracker you’ll find with heart rate monitoring as a feature. Band wise it’s entirely customisable. You can buy it with the standard band, or upgrade to something a bit nicer. On offer are leather bands in a variety of colours, as well as metal bands that make the Alta look more like a bangle than a tracker!
Misfit Shine 2
The Misfit Shine 2 is a small disc that can be purchased in a variety of colours (red, gold, black, pink etc). The disc can be worn in a simple wrist strap, or inside a pendant on a necklace. The necklace can be purchased in stainless steel, black and rose gold. One of the great things about the Shine 2 is that you don’t have to charge it. The battery is replaceable and should last 6 months. It’s pretty easy to forget to put a tracker back on after you’ve taken it off to charge, so this is a great feature for the forgetful! There’s also a Swimmer’s Edition which will track laps etc.
The Bellabeat Leaf is a great product that doesn’t actually look like a fitness tracker. What it does look like is a lovely piece of jewellery that could be worn in the day or evening. The device is made of stainless steel and wood, and comes in various colour varieties (silver and rose gold mixed with lighter and darker woods). Depending on the accessories you purchase with it, it can be worn with a chain as a necklace or leather strap as a bracelet, or it can be clipped to a piece of clothing. The Leaf is targeted to women, and we love it because in addition to activity and sleep tracking, you can use it and the accompanying app to support meditation and stress, and track your menstrual cycle.
The Withings Activité range, including the ‘Pop’ and ‘Steel versions’ are stylish trackers that look more like sleek watches than anything else. They even have a proper clock face. At first glance you likely wouldn’t realise there’s more going on behind the scenes. But these trackers are doing more than keeping time. They’re tracking steps and calories, swims and runs. And like the Misfit Shine 2 they’ve got a lengthy battery life, this time of 8 months, so you won’t have to worry about charging every night!
